Moving day number 1

Well it’s done. Well, not done, of course, still lots to do.
But last night, thanks to a LOT of help from Jake Mellema and his friend Johnny, as well as tons of work by Dann Mellema and Brian Mellema, last night we slept in our “new house”

We moved from a 4000sf custom timberframe on an acre to an 80 year old house near the center of town. Step one in minimizing our lives, stepping back to a life with less stuff and more us.

Future plans include selling this house too, and hitting the road full time in our Monaco Motorhome, seeing this beautiful country in style.

Of course no too long too hard day is complete without a little excitement. Nikko Fuzzbutt found the backdoor and fence gate open at the same time, and bolted like lightning, prompting an hour long search all around our new neighborhood. Thankfully he did turn up safe and sound.

Jim’s turn for his first post

Yup, the DW says it’s my turn. Earlier today was thinking about that abbreviation earlier and came up with something really good, but it escapes me now. Dynamite maybe? Today was just another day. Working on stuff. Shipping orders. Painting in one of the offices I wish to rent out. Taking delivery of a new washer and dryer at “The Studio”, that old house in Oswego which will be our “first step in downsizing” in about 5 weeks. I do think itsa good idea to do this downsizing in steps. Makes it easier for “non-guys” who are perfectly happy with 2 pairs of underwear and his dog. This weekend we will start moving. I been jonesing bad. It’s not moving into the motorhome, but it’s a start.

Our House Is SOLD!!

Its official! All attorney reviews, inspections and paperwork are final and the house is SOLD! We will close on Dec. 17th, so the push is on to minimalize, clean out, and move everything we own to our other property in Oswego. We will be staying there until my youngest son finishes up his Boy Scout Eagle project, which should be done by Spring. We are hoping to head to Alaska by next Spring to spend the Summer there!

Today’s project: the library. This mess right here:
